Instagram’s answer to the popular platform TikTok = Reels. What if we told you, you can edit 15 second videos using Instagram Reels. Like TikTok, you can add effects and music to your reel or use your own audio. You can share with your followers on Feed, and, if you have a public account, make them available to the wider Instagram community through a new space in Explore. Reels in Explore offers anyone the chance to become a creator on Instagram and reach new audiences on a global stage.

Creating Instagram Reels

Select Reels at the bottom of the camera. Videos can be recorded in a series of clips (one at a time). There are a variety of editing tools such as audio, AR effects, Time and Countdown, Align and Speed. Reels can be shared in your Feed or if you have a public profile, you can share your reel to a dedicated space in Explore. This is where it has the chance to be seen and discovered by the wider Instagram community. Once your reel is ready, move to the share screen where you can save a draft, change the cover image, add friends and add hashtags.

Watching Reels

You can watch reels in Explore or in the “Featured” label. If your reel is featured, you will receive a notification. Reels give users, similar to TikTok that creative experience!
